During the 15th and 16th centuries, a famous school of fence was established in Bologna, Italy.The father of this tradition was a Professor of mathematics at the University and was given license to establish a school of fencing. This school lasted for two centuries, culminating in the work of Giovanni dall'Agocchie who influenced the later master Ridolfo Capoferro. In Victorian times, this style of combat was resurrected by Sir Alfred Hutton. This book is a study manual for the Bolognese style of combat. About the Author: William was born in the Catskills in Walton, NY and after his parents moved the famility to Buffalo, NY he grew up in Williamsville, NY. During the senior year of High School his family lived outside Lincoln England in Tattershall. He attended Buffalo State Teacher's College where he earned a Bachelors in anthropology and then Northern Arizona University where he earned a masters in Applied Anthropology. William is currently works at a University where he assists with academic research and teaches fencing. He takes part in living history demonstrations; specifically Scottish and French and Indian War living history. He studies 16th and 17th century northern Italian fencing and other combat styles.
